Grades 3-6

The Bowbells School children have been celebrating Beef Awareness Week with the help of head cook Terri Morgel. The kids often refer to Terri as "Granny" and have enjoyed all the extra time and training Terri puts in for our students. From decorating to sharing educational facts, we love the things she does for each occasion.

We are thankful for the goodies from the ND Beef Commission. All elementary kids were able to receive a special beef goodie each day this week.

We had out main beef meal on Wednesday with Granny serving us slushburgers, homemade potato salad, 3 bean salad, baked potato chips, and apples with our complete salad bar.

One Wednesday, Granny took grades 3-6 to Mema's Meats in Berthold to learn the next step in beef production. (Last year we visited a local rancher and looked at the cow/calf pairs). Granny is teaching all students about the beef industry and all the many steps involved. Dylan Enger with E and E Beef and Mema's staff were all very informative for the kids to learn the next steps of beef production and where our beef comes from.

The Bowbells school uses E and E Beef Company out of Stanley, ND for all our beef products. E and E Beef Company is owned by the Enger and Enge families. E and E use Mema's meat for their processing needs. Mema's Meats is owned by Phil and Kim Newman. The processing plan is located in Berthold, ND.

The students will all be enjoying beef sticks made at Mema's Meats on Friday to end Beef Awareness Week.

The students and staff of Bowbells School want to say a big thank you to the ND Beef Commission, Mema's Meats and E & E Beef Company for helping us learn and enjoy beef awareness.
